I also wasn't very impressed with "Snow Crash", and didn't finish it. And, same as you, I don't have enough patience to slog through a book that won't get on with the plot. I gave up on "Anna Karenina" for that reason. But "Hail Mary" sounds like it might be worth a shot. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

The more I think about Hail Mary the more it annoys me AND the more I enjoy it. So . . . hope you like it!
